In this section you can find indicators that have been designed to quantify information and generate statistics around agricultural production and women empowerment in Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia.
Indicators were built on current best practices as Word Bank (2009, 2013), FAO (2018,2019b,2016b, 2016c), IFPRI (2016, 2018), ILO (2018). These statistics have been mapped to existing indicators in use by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agricultural Census (2010, 2014) and the National Institute of Statistics.
The result is a set of indicators that serves to provide high-level diagnostic information on the state of farming activities and women’s empowerment, and also readily convey specific and vital information that can inform policy and decision-making.
The set of indicators is re-grouped in Key-Characteristics, Economic and Social characteristics.
• Key -characteristics: This set re-groups characteristics, ranging from holding and household characteristics, to land tenure and main livestock and agricultural activities.
• Economic characteristics: This set re-groups measures of income, credit, and assets to include factors of decision making and gender empowerment.
• Social characteristics: This set covers a range of issue ranging from individual empowerment, to food security and access to basic services.
