Video Showcasing

I am a farmer. I am a woman

Shaping and strengthening gender identities through collective video storytelling

This teaser is meant to show a slice of life of GEMAISA women beneficiaries, documenting both the specificities of the various contexts and the transformative processes taking place in the different project’s target areas.

Ernesto Pagano is a journalist and documentary filmmaker with a long experience in social issues. The idea behind this work is that women have to tell their own stories. That is why he asked them to pick up their phone, introduce themselves and tell us about their daily life, work, family, the problems they face every day, their aspirations, dreams and plans for the future.

Thanks to this documentary, which will be released in 2021, we will also hear from the voice of GEMAISA women the change that the project has triggered in their lives. In fact, for CIHEAM Bari this video does not only represent a communication and visibility product, but it is also an additional tool for monitoring the potential impact brought by the project.

In the past months, the COVID-19 spread has further increased women’s vulnerability and isolation. Telling their personal stories via a mobile phone enables them to be connected to the world and is a step forward in their self-awareness and empowerment process.
